Lending a hand

I woke up this morning to Max calling me, saying we had to go to the homeless shelter. It even counted as the morning, Max called at 1045 opposed to my usual off day wakeup time of 2 in the afternoon. So we got Scotty and left. I mean it feels good to help out but I would be lieing if I said we were excited to be there.

When we got there most of what did was sort clothes and hang them up.I did get to know one lady though, Maddy, she said her name was. Maddy was a schizophrenic lady and would keep telling me about mom who suffers from Alzheimer's. Maddy was also a victim of domestic violence from her first husband. She says that her husband now is being sold off by drug dealers. It was also apparent that Maddy was on drugs.

It is little things in life, like meeting Maddy, that makes you truly appreciate what you have. Yes I am in a small dorm room not looking forward to class and practice tomorrow, but things could be so much worse. I could be sleeping under and overpass tonight or at a bus stop.

I help out every Christmas break delivering presents to the needy families of my hometown. That always puts things in prospective. However after time you tend to forget about that and start taking things for granted all over. Maddy will help me remember to appreciate what I have in life. A loving family, a countless number of friends I can turn to, an education, the list goes on.

Thank-you Maddy.

The rest of the day has been uneventful though, Max, Scotty, Andrew, and myself all went and finally enjoyed the Frugals experience. The best burger I've found in Parkland so far. Then we came back and I got motivated and did the laundry. My clothes have been done just sitting in the drier now for awhile, but my motivation stage is over and I don't want to go get them, I am getting way to lazy. I was lazy before I left for school but I am taking it to a whole new level. Is it bad if I'm ok with that?ha

So now I'm just chillin' in my room waiting to go dinner. Right when I said that Max opened the door. DINNER TIME!!

  1. Glad to hear that you have appreciated the Christmas delivery. Tell Maddy hello from me next time you see here. By the way, it is granted (not Grantite) and Truly (not truely). Love to read these and your writing is entertaining and I can clearly hear your voice. Keep up the good work and keep on eye on the spelling :)
